Amnesty International accuses Israel of genocide in Gaza

Amnesty International accused Israel of genocide in Gaza, citing the complete destruction of Khuza’a as evidence of a systematic campaign.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Amnesty International has accused Israel of committing acts of genocide in Gaza, citing the complete destruction of Khuza’a in southern Gaza as evidence of a systematic campaign to erase Palestinian life.

In a detailed report released Friday, Amnesty International presented satellite imagery and verified videos showing that Israeli forces razed Khuza’a within two weeks in May 2025, leaving behind only dust and rubble.

The organization described the destruction as a stark testament to Israel’s ongoing devastation in Gaza, highlighting a pattern of deliberately targeting critical infrastructure and fertile agricultural land. Amnesty stated that this was not incidental but a clear effort to make Gaza unlivable.

Erika Guevara-Rosas, Amnesty International’s director of research, advocacy, policy, and campaigns, emphasized that the scale and precision of the destruction exceeded any conceivable military necessity, indicating a deliberate campaign to render the area uninhabitable.

She called for an independent and impartial investigation into the near-total erasure of Khuza’a, stressing that this act of destruction not only violates international law but also exposes a calculated plan to turn Gaza into a wasteland.

Amnesty’s report framed Israel’s actions as part of a broader strategy of collective punishment against Palestinians, describing an effort to impose living conditions designed to destroy them physically, in whole or in part—the legal definition of genocide.

“The goal appears to be the dismantling of Palestinian society itself,” Guevara-Rosas stated. “Israel is tearing apart Gaza’s social fabric and subjecting its people to suffering that meets the threshold of genocide. This must be stopped now”.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel’s military campaign—backed unconditionally by the United States—has resulted in over 182,000 Palestinian casualties, the majority of them children and women, according to Palestinian authorities. More than 11,000 remain missing, and hundreds of thousands have been displaced.

Amnesty International urged the international community to take immediate action to hold Israel accountable and investigate its actions under international law.
